Excerpt from Specimens of Black and Colored Printing Inks, Manufactured by H. D. Wade and Co., No. 50 Ann Street, New York
In preparing this Book for the Printers’ use, it has been our aim to make it as practical as possible. We have therefore selected such cuts as we thought would best show the shade of color and working properties of our various Inks, - one showing a good body of color and, in the better qualities, one showing its appearance in fine work. We have also endeavored so to arrange the colors as to give the best harmony and contrast, that it might be easy to select such quality and combination of colors as would seem desirable for any job in hand. We might have made our book more beautiful by inserting splendid cuts, but thought it would not be as useful as in its present simple form. It will be observed that these specimens are not printed on enameled paper or card surface to increase their brilliancy. We hope it will be of assistance to all who receive it, not only in giving their orders for Inks, but also in giving their customers an opportunity to select understandingly.
