Description ‘Avenues’ explores the racial tensions between Somali and Bengali youth living in the area surrounding Brick Lane in East London. The book contains the stories of Somali and Bengali kids and their many conflicting views. The idea behind the book was to bridge divides, help to instigate discussion and improve the kids’ confidence. Sanchita has also produced a 45 minute film which accompanies the book and contains photos and detailed pencil portraits of the kids involved.
