Laboring people. Warwick Brookes’ parents were of these poor people, Lancashire factory folk, and the little boy himself was born in Salford, a suburb of the great cotton-mill town of Manchester, in 1808. The picture, The Annual Horse Fair, gives you an idea of his birthplace; in the passage under the hanging lamp in the distance stands the house where he was born.
