I spent my childhood holidays at the beach, on the Mornington Peninsula south of Melbourne. The many happy holiday times I enjoyed there with family and friends warm my heart with gratitude.
I developed a love of all things seaside - making sandcastles, paddling through the shallows and going on rambles with my brother looking for shells, interesting seaweeds and finding sea life in the rockpools.
I loved - and still love - discovering the different types of plant and animal life which beaches offer - their intricate details and changing forms. Nature has a truly incredible range of life. This has always enchanted me.
Along with natural beauty of the beach, I absolutely loved spending time at the beach house - family time with good people, good food and good memories.
Picking cherries and strawberries at local farms, eating ice creams while walking on the beach, boat rides with cousins - I wouldn't trade these holiday memories for anything!
The illustrations in this book are not only recreations of my treasured memories, they are also images of my new, ‘sea change’ life. I hope they will prompt recollection of your own precious times and places or encourage you to make new memories to treasure.
Beyond purely colouring, this book provides positive statements to ponder or adopt as your own mantra. There’s also a special place where you can reflect on joy, forgiveness, love and dreams, and take the first steps toward your needs and wants in each of these areas.
All illustrations in this book are in black and white. You may choose to leave some of them as they are; others you will want to colour in your own style.
Remember, there's no skill to colour in these illustrations - there's no right or wrong style or colour palette. It's all up to you!
When colouring, I suggest using colouring pencils rather than marker pens. Pencils are more versatile as they allow you to blend colours and shade areas.
Happy relaxation
