We all have “characters” in our lives. Everyone has a different personality, yet somehow we all grow together, work together, and manage to love each other. The Energized Family is the perfect example of what it takes to be a family and work through the challenges of life. As you read, see if you know of any “characters” in your life that resemble Gloria’s artistic friends. If you find one of them, watch the others around him or her and see just how they deal with their personality. You might find a new way to look at your own friends and family. Later, they might find you to be quite “energized” too, in your own responses towards them. While Gloria, an artist, is on vacation, lightning strikes through her bedroom window hitting her desk she draws on. The artist’s tools become energized (the word used to describe them as being alive). Gloria’s paintbrush, pencil, scissors, eraser, paint pallet and ruler devise a plan to make a note to give Gloria the news of their changes. After all, with this plan in place she can read about their changes before she actually sees them alive, that is, energized. This is how we enter their imaginary world and they prevent Gloria from being “skeerd.” You will find this imaginary story exciting and refreshingly innocent. The story challenges us all not to compare ourselves with others but to appreciate our uniqueness, which is our strength. Everyone wants to “fit in” and “find their place in this life,” since it is energized with opportunities. Our family is our greatest resource. When we allow other family members to grow along side us, we, too, will become energized.
