But there is a worse enemy to the caricaturist: it is’the man who is looking on and poisons the mind of the good-natured subject of caricature against the caricaturist. My long experience has been to discover that, if any bad feeling has been raised between myself and my subjects subjects worthy of notice - it has not been that my subject has taken offence at seeing anything in my caricatures that was not intended in good. Part, but that ‘damned good - natured friends? Have been at work to point out a motive that never was entertained.
