We recommend using Targeted Supplements if a student does not need a full math curriculum but requires mastering basic skills.
Targeted Supplements cover daily practice; provide more opportunities to learn math in greater depth with engaging and fun problem-solving and critical thinking tasks to keep students interested in math; can be used to complement any curriculum.
Where to start:
An advanced or interested in math 1st grader may start at Grades 2-3 if they are in 2nd grade.
If math is a challenging subject, start at Grades 2-3 if they are in 3rd grade.

Fractions with LEGO and Brainers Grades 2-3 focuses on teaching. So, we do not automatically expect students to have math skills, but we teach them how to acquire and apply all the necessary skills for future learning in fun and comfortable ways. The workbook uses color coding: we highlighted explanations and main ideas yellow. From our experience, at their age, it helps students see the most important information, not just to read the rule or the explanation of math theory. The engaging, comical way implicitly shows students what they need to pay more attention to.
The problems also have help from “Brainers,” which can handle the mathematical problems from different points of view, state of preparation, and attitude to math. Brainers teach students that it is fine to fear new math problems, make mistakes, and struggle with some problems which seem so simple and easy for others. Students learn with Brainers not only to prepare for standardized tests (such as SCAT®, CogAT®, etc.) but also for higher-level math subjects in middle and high school.
Brainers in “Fractions with LEGO and Brainers Grades 2-3” give easy-to-follow explanations and examples. So, you do not need lengthy teaching manuals. Brainers also give excellent teaching tips and insights for teachers.
Modeling and building with Lego bricks and bars to understand fractions is one of the best features of our Curriculum. We know a lot about fractions, but, at the same time, students, even in high school, complain about “dreaded and mysterious” fractions. We represent fractions with LEGO bricks and bars in a new, fun, and different way, which makes understanding fractions as easy and clear as possible. Fractions are visualized with comparisons and addition and subtraction problems which evolve gradually and help to understand how the numbers in fractions work.
The workbook has answers with step-by-step solutions. You don’t need to find complicated Answer Keys. We are all teachers and parents with precious little time. So, we made it easier for you to have a whole page of the math workbook with ready solutions and answers.
