Echoes of the Past, which wakened memories of happy days now vanished and brought again to mind sorrows which time had only dimmed.
While the work has been pleasant, it has not been alto gether without labor, as many of the choicest poems were in pencil, written in my mother’s latter years, during steadily failing health. These I found in a port-folio long laid aside.
