For me that said it all. When I was six years old I contracted Encephalitis which left me with Epilepsy. I was in Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles for six weeks. The encephalitis left scar tissue on the right temporal lobe area of my brain. My seizures usually occurred at night as I would be falling asleep, while I was sleeping or as I was just waking up in the morning. I developed a passion for art as soon as I could hold a pencil. I was influenced by my Godfather, Pepe Serna, Actor and Artist. Drawing gave me something beautiful to focus on. I first used colored pencils and a sketch pad and would draw animals. I am lucky to have an encouraging Godfather who insisted I use new mediums as time went on, such as chalk and pastels. They each have a different beauty to create with adding accent and wonder to each new picture I created. In my early teens I was ready to start using acrylics on canvas.
