In this catalogue we have endeavored to record, as far as we are able, the color schemes of these colorful graphic expressions, using the nomenclature of the Toledo Museum School of Design. These prints are so similar to their prototypes of the eighteenth and early nineteenth century, and yet so often different, in the use of color, that it became an interesting and finally a primary consideration in compiling the descriptive text of the catalogue.
